Areas used agriculturally in general tend to need nutrients, which are provided in form of adding fertilizers to the ground. The most important components in the production of a chemical fertilizer are
- nitrogen
- phosphate
- sulphur
- potassium salts
The production chain of manufacturers of chemical fertilizers ranges from the disintegration of raw phosphate with sulphuric acid right down to producing nitrogen in air separation plants. The need for the respective raw materials is great and manufacturers naturally also have a great interest in sourcing suitable alternative products. AGNAT supplies manufacturers of NPK fertilizers with the relevant secondary products. Here special attention is quite naturally also paid to the compulsory substances which come about in other production processes as by-products or cogenerated products. Products that appear to be suitable are painstakingly checked by the manufacturing businesses for any potential uses they can be put to.
Once evaluated as suitable we can make the client a concrete offer. Depending on type and condition of the products it may however also be possible to supply agricultural businesses direct. In this scenario intensive investigations in the run-up are also required. However, at all times it is of utmost importance to AGNAT to ensure that the relevant official guidelines for this particular application arising from the Fertilizer Act (DüG dated 09.01.2009) and the Fertilizer Ordinance (DüMV dated 16.12.2008) are being observed.
Fertilisers
Particular emphasis is placed on the processing of ammonium sulphate solutions. Due to the fact that the fertilization phase in agriculture is limited to just a few weeks in a year, while ammonium sulphate solutions are generated all year round and at unchanging quantities, it is important to ensure the consistent collection of the product. To this end AGNAT organizes the services required for all its clients, starting with collecting the product by lorry on time at the place where it originates right down to organizing the warehousing logistics during the period when fertilization is not required.
Acids
Acids are used in a variety of shapes and forms in chemical and technical processes. They are indispensable in the production processes of both the surface treatment and metal processing industries. What’s more, they are also frequently used in the chemical industry. Another, large application area is the production of fertilizers. In this area, as mentioned earlier, sulphuric acid is the primary substance used. AGNAT has specialized in identifying sensible application areas for already spent sulphuric acids that are of economic benefit to its customers. Depending on the grade and level of contamination sensible use possibilities do indeed exist as an alternative to incineration which tends to be rather costly.
